SNHBS Annual Meeting – The Future for Native Honey Bees

Perth Subud Centre, Saturday 28 March 2026, 10:00–16:00

We’re returning to our comfortable and friendly venue in Perth for this year’s annual meeting.

The speakers are:

Andrew Abrahams – What the future holds for the Colonsay Bees. Andrew has kept dark native bees on Colonsay for over 40 years and cared for the Black Bee Reserve there since 2014.

Matthew Richardson, the president of the Scottish Beekeepers’ Association, and a leading member of the Beebytes team which supports community-led conservation efforts for Amm and is increasingly involved in research and data collection of wide interest to honey bee conservationists.

Gavin Ramsay, retired scientist and beekeeper with a strong interest in honey bee genetics and conservation will look at the problems with conserving Amm on the mainland where it is under relentless pressure from imported non-natives causing increasing hybridisation.

There will be time for discussion so we will be delighted to hear your ideas as well.
